TM Rural development is committed to meeting the most critical needs in rural communities of Kenya. The four areas of focus are water and food security, enhancing medical services, education, and expanding God's kingdom.

WATER AND FOOD SECURITY

Many rural areas in Kenya have been severely affected by drought. People are forced to travel long distances, as far as eight miles, to gather water. Dysentary is a big problem due to the lack of safe drinking water. Quite often there is so little rain that crops fail to produce a harvest causing widespread hunger.  TM is beginning to install boreholes/wells to address this critical issue. A community experiences tremendous transformation once clean water is readily available. People have clean water to drink and through irragation, crops produce every growing season. Extra crops can be grown and sold at the market for added income.

TM Ministry is also working to improve nutrition with chicken and goat programs. The programs raise enough chickens and goats until each family has their own animals.

ENHANCING MEDICAL SERVICES

TM Ministry began addressing the lack of health services by holding mobile medical clinics in schools and churches. As time passed a permanent health clinic was built.  The buiding is used for general checkups and tending to minor health issues. There are also professional health clinics held which is open to the entire community. Local doctors team with American doctors to treat as many people as they can during medical mission trips. A vision clinic was held in 2011 and 380 people received eye exams and glasses were given as needed. These clinics are very effective and more are planned for the near future.

EDUCATION

TM Ministry began as a literacy program. A library was established to interface with schools and churches in the area. Computers were included in the library where students could expand their skills in preparation to enter the job market. Over the years the need for education and skill acquistion has become a primary focus. The Kambusu Vocational Training Institute was established to train school dropouts. The dropout rate is high in rural communities leaving the young adults unprepared to acquire work to support themselves. Students are being trained in literacy, computers, brick making and construction, sewing and knitting.  A variety of new classes are being planned to offer more opportunities in the future.

EXPANDING GOD'S KINGDOM

Even though people are not required to be a Christians to benefit from our programs, expanding the kingdom of God is a natural progression of events as we show a community love by not only meeting their most critical needs but also forming strong relationships with everyone in the community.

In this rural community there are many pastors. However, many of them do not have the training or resources they need to be effective ministers of the Gospel and shepherds of their flocks.   Some of the pastors did not even have bibles and were preaching using The Daily Bread devotional guide. The Pastors Equip Program is an integral part of expanding God's kingdom .

TM Ministry is committed to improving the health and well being of the people in rural Kenya. Not only physical health but spiritual health as well.

ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The numerous programs and projects established by TM Rural Development have has a huge impact on countless Kenyans living in rural areas. The Board OF Directors would like to thank everyone who has supported the ministry with funds and/or prayer. But there is much more to be done. Even though we are a Christian based organization we help those in great need irrespective of their faith by addressing the root cause of the problem. We do not require anybody to be a Christian or listen to Christian messages to benefit from our projects or programs.
