2011 Eye glasses mission trip to Kambusu.
Patients are waiting to see the Doctor. Eye charts were used to screen patients before having their eyes examined. Some people needed reading glasses while others needed prescription glasses.

Patients were fitted with glasses that closely matched their prescription. Multiple suitcases were filled to the brim with glasses for the clinic. Below right picture, Ruth and the mission team pause for a picture before the clinic began.

A vision clinic was held at the TM medical clinic building. Eye exams were conducted on 380 residents. Many needed glasses and basic medications for eye issues. Young children were unable to perform in school because they cannot read the books and teaching materials. One woman shared a story about her life as a Chaplain. As she aged her vision became blurry and she was unable to read her bible for the last seven years. She opened her bible after receiving reading glasses and began to read. She broke out into tears and a huge smile. She said she was going to go home and read her bible the rest of the day.
After the vision clinic an open-air meeting was held with two speakers. The first spoke on Bartimaeus the blind man being healed by Jesus. The second delivered a salvation message. There were about 110 people attending and nine accepted Jesus as their savior. Sometimes hearts are softened and open after they see people showing them the love of Jesus by meeting their most critical needs.

The TM Health Program was started in 2006 to address the health needs of people in Matungulu Location, Kangundo District, Kenya.
It started by conducting, every two weeks, Mobile Health Clinics which were held in various churches and school offices in the area.
Then it culminated to medical camps with more qualified medical personnel and better equipment and finally to a Health Center with most basic equipment. Health screening was conducted at registration. In the center picture Ruth is testing for blood sugar at a mobile clinic. A nurse is with a patient in the picture on the right.
